WHY WE LIKE IT
The Ritz London is an institution. The building is a London landmark; the style is old fashioned yet impressive and grand. Staff ratio of about 2:1 ensures extra attention. And the central location bordering Bond Street–a stone's throw to Mayfair, Knightsbridge, and the Theater District–is very convenient to anyone in London for tourism.
AMENITY WE LOVE
Afternoon tea at the Palm Court is legendary.
WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE
The dress code is just a bit too much for us–dressing up for a simple nightcap, while elegant and festive, is tiresome. Though we found some staff members exceptionally friendly and kind, others were a bit aloof.
GOOD TO KNOW
The Ritz London has a formal dress code in its public areas (including all restaurants and bars, except at breakfast). Gentlemen are requested to wear a jacket and tie, and jeans and/or training shoes are not permitted in these areas. Hotel guests and up to six of their guests are granted temporary access to members-only The Ritz Club after filling out a simple application. The club offers a restaurant (7:00pm-3:00am), bar (from 2:00pm), and gaming casino (2:00pm-6:00am; roulette, blackjack, poker, and Baccarat) located in a spectacular former ballroom.
