VIBE
A cool, sophisticated crowd stays here, in line with the eclectic design aesthetic. The 18 meter (60 ft.) pool downstairs sets the tone–with a fiber optic light installation that changes color, a pool bar, and gold lame-covered seating, this is the sexiest pool in London. Despite proximity to the bustling Theatre District and the iconic Haymarket Theatre, the location on a street off Trafalgar Square offers a measure of quiet.

WHY WE LIKE IT
The overall vibe. The classic English décor with a funky twist is quite accessible (i.e., you feel comfortable but cool). As owner Kit Kemp put it, the Haymarket is “the England of the present, not of the past.” The honor bar in the library is perfect for a nightcap and a chat with fellow guests from around the world (we met an interesting designer couple on an inspiration tour). Service is warm and attentive.
AMENITY WE LOVE
Huge pool with swanky sitting areas and a sexy bar. The private banquet room was also quite lovely (you could just imagine hosting a lovely dinner party here). Service was warm and attentive.
WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE
Nothing
GOOD TO KNOW
Corner rooms (numbers 111, 211, and 311) are larger, and fourth floor rooms have picturesque London rooftop views (but are smaller). The hotel is part of the Firmdale Group, which includes Charlotte Street Hotel (London), Soho Hotel (London), and Crosby Street Hotel (New York), among others.
