    VIBE

Older townhouse-set hotel with loads of history (just pop on downstairs to the loo, and you’ll swear the spirits are alive and well down there!). The rooms are actually bright if just a touch on the smaller side.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

Location! This is in the Knightsbridge/Sloane Square area, so it’s extremely convenient to fantastic shopping (think high end boutiques, Harvey Nicks, etc.). And for something other than shopping, hit the Saatchi Gallery for both art and the lovely outdoor space in which one can sit and just enjoy the beautiful London weather (and yes, this does indeed exist more often than not).

    AMENITY WE LOVE

Concierge–he is wonderfully accommodating, that friendly face that welcomes you back after a long day out and about in London.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

The basement loo: while it’s kind of fun to freak yourself out, if you just need to use the loo, well, go to your room, because despite the floral wallpaper, it’s a little spooky down there. Oh, and many of the rooms could use a facelift.

    GOOD TO KNOW

The Cadogan Hotel has been the setting for writers and poets and their shenanigans, the most notable being in room 118, which was the scene of Oscar Wilde’s arrest. Langtry Restaurant has a “Limitless Champagne Lunch” on Saturday and Sunday. The property is a member of Leading Small Hotels of the World.
