A throwback to the 18th century, this hotel is all period in style but with modern conveniences for a comfortable stay. Named for individual tenants who once occupied these former apartments, rooms have unique bathrooms with period fittings. Attentive staff, cozy fireplaces in sitting rooms, and the warm conservatory that opens up to a courtyard garden help make this boutique hotel extremely intimate.

WHY WE LIKE IT
Charm–this place has tons of it, from the home-y breakfasts (muesli, freshly baked croissants) to the old London décor.
AMENITY WE LOVE
Antique bathrooms with nickel, brass, and copper embellishments (with modern conveniences). In most ground floor rooms, the bathroom is down a little staircase. Simply delightful.
WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE
Perhaps more staff; service, while accommodating and warm, can be a touch slow due to limited manpower.
GOOD TO KNOW
The Rook’s Nest is the duplex penthouse suite, with a Victorian bathing machine in one corner and a sitting area on the second floor overlooking St. Paul’s Cathedral. All bedrooms are named after people who lived in the building at some time over the last 250 years. Bathrooms have Victorian-era plumbing and fittings (modernized though) with Aveda bath products.
