VIBE
Owner Mourad Mazouz has the magic touch of making his properties super hot; since Sketch’s opening in late 2002, it has had a perennial place on the hot list. The townhouse structure belies an eclectic grouping of rooms with very distinct décor. The East Bar’s pod-like structure is sci-fi à la 2001: A Space Odyssey, while The Parlour’s flea-market furnishings prove a bit more comfortably cozy (and let’s not forget the egg-shaped loos).
WHAT WE WOULD WEAR
For the East Bar, stylishly hot is the M.O.; for The Parlour, stylishly casual will do.

WHY WE LIKE IT
The building has a multiple personality disorder that somehow works. And the host was very congenial, giving us a tour of the first floor before we committed to a drinking environment.
WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE
Feels massive and a bit contrived, but fun and stylish nonetheless.
GOOD TO KNOW
Same owner as Momo (London), Derriere (Paris), and Andy Wahloo (Paris). 9 Conduit Street also houses two restaurants (The Glade and Lecture Room & Library) and a gallery (The Gallery), which turns into a gastro-brasserie at night. Cool bathrooms play different music/noises.
