    VIBE

Cool, relaxing venue to hang out and have a beer, but it does get very crowded so be prepared to stand. If you get there early enough and the weather’s nice, go for one of the outdoor seating options in the large terrace. This is the sort of place where people mill around for hours at a time.

    WHAT WE WOULD WEAR

Casual but in a clean-cut sort of way.

    GO HERE WITH

A big group of people; several friends; yourself

    CROWD

25-40 year old yuppies (the good kind!) looking to get a pint or a glass of wine; spillover from The Cow occasionally.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

Big tables that work well for groups and lend a congenial vibe to the joint. Waitstaff was very friendly to us but has been reported to be rude at times.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

Any inconsistencies in the waitstaff’s behavior (as reported by others) because the friendly service when we visited was a huge draw for us.

    GOOD TO KNOW

Reportedly one of London’s first gastropubs.

    CLOSEST COMPS

Tom’s Kitchen (London); Commercial Tavern (London)
