    VIBE

This Borough Market landmark buzzes all day with enthusiastic patrons (including quite a few discerning Spanish expats), all jonesing for a taste of the top-notch tapas. With an easygoing atmosphere and sunny windows overlooking the market, people-watching opportunities are primo, though most can’t tear their eyes away from the food. Lines can be long (especially on weekends), and the service is generally frazzled. But the mood stays upbeat, and the quality of the eats never flags.

    CROWD

Foodies, Spanish expats, and savvy Borough locals.

    WHAT WE WOULD WEAR

It’s relaxed–a cute skirt or jeans, flats, and a simple top will do the trick.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

The tapas are fantastic, and the buzzing atmosphere is fun, just as a tapas bar is meant to be.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

The reservations policy–it would be nice if you could book a table.

    GOOD TO KNOW

Be prepared for long waits as they don’t take reservations. Also, once in the door, they’ve got a policy of two-hour turnarounds on tables. On Fridays and Saturdays, from 9:00am-11:00am a spanish breakfast is served only. Brindisa started life as a Borough Market Spanish food importer in 1988, and its restaurant still incorporates freshly imported ingredients and a take-away jamoneria counter offering sliced-to-order Spanish ham and charcuterie.
