The mod glossy black exteriors of Stella McCartney’s Bruton Street boutique suggest that this is just another "contemporary minimalist" (read: boring, hotel-lobby-esque) designer shop, so the comfortable, airy spaces inside are a delightful surprise. In a unique mash up of "cozy posh townhouse" and "quirky couture display," a series of intimate rooms with period details like original fireplaces and brickwork have been restored and reworked (we love the transparent courtyard room) to fit with displays of McCartney’s delicate designs. This all makes shopping here a very relaxed experience–more like browsing a friend’s (fab!) closet than a boutique.

WHY WE LIKE IT

We love the comfy, unpretentious in-store atmosphere–it made us want to linger for hours. (And we totally dig Stella’s fashions, too.)

GOOD TO KNOW

As a high-profile vegetarian activist, McCartney ensures that all her designs are animal-free (no leather or fur), and she’s also been increasingly using green and organic materials in her collections.
