WHY WE LIKE IT

Its modern performances reflect London’s edgier side. Sadler's Wells also welcomes dance from around the world, bringing not only modern dance companies, but also ballet, flamenco, and hip hop groups, with dance masters such as ballet dynamo Matthew Bourne and the Dance Theater of Harlem among them.

WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

Better signs indicating theater’s location from the Tube! When in a rush to catch a show (no latecomers until intermission!), it’s tricky finding the theater from the Tube station.

GOOD TO KNOW

Latecomers will not be admitted while a performance is in progress. Discount tickets for students are not available online. The Islington location has two theaters: Sadler’s Wells Theatre and the Lilian Baylis Studio, both showcasing emerging and established artists. The third theater in the Sadler’s Wells group is the Peacock Theatre, located in the West End just north of the Strand. Sadler’s Wells also presents a spring season of dance at the London Coliseum on St. Martin’s Lane.
