VIBE

Small but regal park in the center of London. The ornamental park borders multiple important landmarks including Buckingham Palace, The Mall (site of many parades and national celebrations), St. James’s Palace, Horse Guards, and Birdcage Walk. It is a favorite of picnickers, tourists, and those looking for a lunchtime escape from the office.

WHY WE LIKE IT

With lovely decoration and lots to see in a small space, it is a truly interesting park. With so many key landmarks around its borders, this space provides a heavy dose of royalty.

WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

Small area makes for a concentrated collection of people. It can be difficult to find a place to spread out or enjoy quiet time.

GOOD TO KNOW

St. James’s Park was acquired by Henry VIII in the early 16th Century. Today, the bridge across the lake provides a unique view of Buckingham Palace framed by trees and fountains. The area is now home to over 15 species of birds including pelicans, geese, ducks, and swans, many of which can be seen on Duck Island.
