      true

Blending East Asian techniques and décors, this high-end zen hideaway in a quiet Chelsea townhouse is one of London's best spas...

To-die-for Indian food, buzzworthy beers, dashing gentlemen...but spa paradise? Not so much. Truth be told, London lacks a little in the spa department. But not to worry: you won't have to suffer a stray hair, knotted back, clogged pore, or pesky hangnail during your stay. There are some selected good finds out there–for a price.

Can't see the trees for the forest? Otylia Roberts, the hair-removal maven who brought the Brazilian wax to the UK, will tend to hirsute zones anywhere on your body with either all-natural beeswax or pulsing light. For the mane on your head, pay a visit to hair guru Mathew Alexander–a boutique bespoke hair and makeup experience–for a trim, restyle, or lunch-hour-friendly blow dry. Finding a decent manicure for a reasonable price can be a touch more challenging; fees are high, stand-alone mani/pedi locations are few, and appointments are necessary. Your best bet for beautifying your digits is at a larger, full-service spa like the branch of Urban Retreat at Harrods department store. Yes, indeed, it's a 22,000 square foot beauty haven smack in the middle of the madness that is Harrods. Why not coordinate your hair, makeup, and nails with that new Paul Smith number you've just snagged?

If it's escape from the madness you're looking for, hotel spas are your go-to for pampering galore. The height of opulence, the Dorchester Spa in The Dorchester cradles you in 1930's Art Deco glamour; after your caviar facial, nibble on bite-sized cakes and sip champagne in the "Spatisserie." The Agua Spa at Sanderson is a total whiteout–you can enjoy your diamond body scrub in one of the all-white treatment rooms surrounded by flowing white curtains. For the ultimate escape, steal away to The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, a Far-East-inspired heat and water oasis with offerings like the Amethyst Crystal Steam Room and the Zen Colour Therapy Relaxation Room.

Ushvani also traffics in a pan-Asian holistic healing approach but sidesteps the hotel setting with a Zen-like townhouse on a quiet street near Sloane Square. Body scrubs and wraps incorporate fresh botanicals, massages mix techniques from various Southeast Asian cultures, and the tearoom serves up dozens of healing concoctions. Make sure to save time for extras like the plunge and mini pools. Revived? Good. Now back to those curries, brews, and Hugh Grant lookalikes.
