Creatively blending traditional with contemporary, edgy elements like polished concrete floors and bold modern art canvases are played off against the exquisite antique furnishings to create a pulsingly hip vibe. Though there’s a DJ and tiny dance floor, most prefer to let the music wash over them as they loll among the piles of cushions and rugs.

Typical for a hutong building, it can be pretty chilly and drafty in the winter.

GOOD TO KNOW

Bed can be tough to find. It’s in a tiny hutong neighborhood down a small street that starts on the east side of Jiu Gu Lou Da Jie. If you’re coming on the subway, walk south for about 10 minutes, and look for the entrance to the hutong on your left. If you’re interested in hosting a function here, you can book anything from a single private opium bed to the entire space. International credit cards are accepted, and Wi-Fi is available.
