VIBE
Sultry lounge in the Grand Hyatt where a smooth contemporary look is blended with creative nods to the local culture, creating a decidedly upscale and uniquely Chinese experience. Vivid plum- and scarlet-hued furnishings add imperial accents to dark, moody wood paneling, while slick, minimalist tricks like a “flat-screen” fireplace are rounded out with atmospheric touches like a live string quartet playing updated remixes of traditional Chinese tunes. As evidenced by the bottles displayed on the deep wine racks ringing the room, the booze is of the finest vintage.
WHAT WE WOULD WEAR
It’s upscale casual–if we’re here on business, we’d keep our look tailored and professional, but if we’re out for a night on the town, we might jazz things up with some funky designer accessories or a swingy little dress.

CROWD
A mature, well-heeled bunch largely drawn from the business power set. Redmoon is also particularly popular with out-of-towner celebs, so don’t be surprised if you run into Hollywood’s latest so-and-so at the bar.
WHY WE LIKE IT
We dig the sexy, sophisticated ambiance–ideal for wooing a date or schmoozing with clients. It reflects the cosmopolitan chic side of Beijing that has only recently emerged in the new millennium.
WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE
For such a swanky establishment, the very-slow-paced service is a disappointment.
GOOD TO KNOW
Redmoon can be a bit tricky to find since it’s hidden at the back of the Grand Hyatt–ask the cheerfully accommodating front desk staff if you’re lost. All major credit cards are accepted.
