    VIBE

Don’t be deceived by the name–there’s absolutely nothing humble about this sleek feng shui-ed Singaporean restaurant. A sparkling atrium ceiling caps the sprawling, breathtaking space where bamboo forests rustle in one corner and a small pond complete with picturesque mini-estuaries trickles in another. Ensconced in leather wing chairs, guests can select from a foodie’s fusion menu centered on Chinese classics made with the finest of ingredients from around the world.

    CROWD

A well-heeled mix of business power players, chic locals, and sophisticated tourists.

    WHAT WE WOULD WEAR

Ever-so-sophisticated casual. The business diner set goes for conservative suits, but we prefer to run with the upper-crust fashionistas who slink in. Try chic heels, a sassy dress, and cool jewelry.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

The bamboo-forest-in-a-restaurant ambiance is quirky yet sophisticated, and the creative presentation of the food is photo-shoot worthy–definitely the perfect spot for wowing guests. Also, unusual for Beijing, there’s tons of space between tables, so you can keep your conversation intimate.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

The sparsely populated scene–when we visited, we noticed that, bizarrely enough, more tables than not were empty. We’re completely baffled as to why, though, as the food, décor, and service are all extremely well-executed.

    GOOD TO KNOW

If you’re really looking to splash out, try rare dishes like the abalone, which goes for a cool RMB 1000.
