    VIBE

This hip, young boutique hotel manages to stay cool without losing its sense of fun. From the exterior, the building has wow-factor with its windows lit in bold colors, while on the inside, guests entertain themselves by selecting their room’s custom lighting hue. Though the in-house wine bar Scarlett is quickly becoming the darling of the Beijing drinking-dining scene, the stylish Sanlitun shopping and entertainment district is only a short walk away.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

The service is fantastic–you’ll never want for anything, and you’ll leave knowing everyone’s name. Also, the location couldn’t be better if you’re up for sampling Beijing’s nightlife–Sanlitun is just at your doorstep. That said, because it’s tucked away on a side street, you won’t have to deal with the noise of traffic or over-enthusiastic revelers outside your window.

    AMENITY WE LOVE

The complimentary goodies, including the Wii, soft drinks, local calls, and iPod docking station are much appreciated, as are the spacious rooms.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

Although the Jacuzzi and terraced garden will be lovely (they were closed for renovation during our stay), it would still be nice if they had a full spa on site.

    GOOD TO KNOW

Hotel G has been quick to maximize on its nightlife hotspot location. Along the same lines…this isn’t the greatest spot to bring kids–much more of a "grownups doing grownup stuff" hotel. If you need something to ease you out of bed after a night on the town, go for the complimentary breakfast–it’s fab.
