    The Den 1

    VIBE

The Den isn't exactly a contender on the décor front. Downstairs there’s a vaguely risqué opium den vibe, while the spacious upstairs dispenses with “décor” completely for a plethora of flat screens and no-nonsense tables built to withstand sloshing pints and greasy fingers. But what the place lacks in refinement it more than makes up for with enthusiasm that keeps folks coming in. On weekend evenings, The Den hauls in a DJ, dims the lights, and gets a “club” groove on (late-night breakfasts help sustain the energy levels as well), but it’s during the Sunday morning champagne brunches and cheap-'n-cheerful weekday happy hours with sports in the background that The Den really hits its stride.

    WHAT WE WOULD WEAR

It’s really casual–if you’re stopping by to catch a game or snag a quick snack, jeans and t-shirt are all that’s required. If you’re giving their weekend dance party scene a whirl, a slinky top and party shoes may be in order.

    CROWD

During the week, it’s packed with sports fans, students looking for cheap drinks, and chronic bar flies. Weekends bring in partiers…followed a few hours later by those looking for a greasy fry-up of a hangover cure

    WHY WE LIKE IT

Excellent spot for a kicking happy hour or last round of the night with the gang. Also great for sports fans, since they’ve always got the game on here.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

The upstairs disco on weekends can be a little sketchy. Beware of seedy blokes pushing their luck during the late-night hours.

    GOOD TO KNOW

They run a great happy hour 5:00pm-10:00pm daily–pizza and beer are half price. International credit cards accepted and Wi-Fi available
