    VIBE

This sprawling Middle Eastern restaurant matches over-the-top “Arabian palace” interiors with a leafy sidewalk terrace. Inside, enthusiastic belly dancing floorshows are the focal point, while outside the sophisticated atmosphere is more relaxed with customers dining or simply enjoying a hookah in the fresh air. The menu features highlights from a variety of Middle Eastern cuisines, though the bulk of the offerings are Lebanese and Syrian.

    CROWD

Mainly expats from the many nearby embassies. There’s a steady flow of local Middle Eastern residents who claim this is the best spot in town for authentic eats.

    WHAT WE WOULD WEAR

It’s casual–we’d go with jeans or a skirt and a low-key trendy top.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

The Middle Eastern eats are yummy and an excellent value for the money. We also like wiling away an evening on the terrace with a hookah and a plate of hummus.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

It’s way too noisy inside when the floorshow is in full swing.

    GOOD TO KNOW

The nightly belly dancing show runs 8:00pm-11:00pm. With a wide range of meat-free items on the menu, this is an excellent spot to take vegetarians. Located across the street from the Zhaolong Hotel, the restaurant is available for hire (for groups up to 200). There’s an English menu, and major credit cards are accepted.
