    VIBE

Tucked away in the back alleys of Sanlitun, Alameda was one of the first (and is still one of the leaders) in what is now a bustling neighborhood of trendy bistros and cafés. The minimalist décor, capped with an airy glass atrium, is urban chic, and the menu (a fusion of Brazilian, European, and Asian influences) equally so. Lunch brings in the hardcore business power scene for the sophisticated service and set menu, while evenings draw a romantic date crowd for the ambiance.

    CROWD

Expense accounters living large and locals in for a special occasion.

    WHAT WE WOULD WEAR

Aim for "smart casual"–sharp trousers and an on-trend blouse.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

It’s easy to see why Beijingers often claim this is The Best Restaurant Ever (in Beijing at least)–the sophisticated menu and effortlessly cool ambiance never disappoint.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

Too many tables, way too close together–not great for intimate conversation.

    GOOD TO KNOW

Can be a little tricky to find. If you’re stuck, head for the back entrance of the 3.3 Mall in Sanlitun, and then walk about 200 meters south.
