This swank, sprawling Spanish-style resort hotel is only a freshman on Beverly Hills’ cliquey luxury hotel scene. But Montage’s superlative tailored service has already started attracting an elite crowd of discerning regulars. Nonetheless, they haven’t entirely cracked the superstar market yet–good news for “mere mortals” looking to soak up more of that attentive service. Rooms are lovely, with beds featuring 500-thread-count linens and gorgeous mosaic bathrooms featuring dual shower, marble tub, and Turkish towels.

WHY WE LIKE IT
This is definitely an all-out luxury hotel, fabulous for a pampering, relaxing getaway. Even though they’re newbies, they’ve nailed the five star service and amenities of grand dame rivals–kudos for that. The spa is one of the biggest and most lush in LA.

Flexible check-in/check-out times–especially great if your flight leaves or arrives at an inconvenient time.
WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE
The restaurants and spa can be eerily empty at times, especially weekend evenings.
GOOD TO KNOW
Check-in and check-out are flexible; you just have to let them know when you’re arriving/leaving. If you’re checking into a suite, hold off on the rental car–you’ll be given a complimentary Benz to drive during your stay (confirm this before arrival). Montage also has properties in Laguna Beach, Deer Valley, and Los Cabos.
