    VIBE

The Standard, Hollywood not-so-subtly strives to bring in the cream of the sexy Hollywood scene with over-the-top avant-garde elements like lobby "performance art" displays of naked live models posing in glass tanks and DJs spinning nightly at the front desk. Their efforts seem to have paid off: the poolside lounging scene is fierce (bring suitcases full of teeny bikinis) and getting past the velvet rope at the Purple Lounge is still tough. Watch out for the mod in-room décor–what hipsters deem "ironic" and "edgy," might be considered "cheap" and "dorm-like" by those with a taste for classic luxury.

Friends – for some hardcore poolside lounging in your best fashionista swimwear.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

If you want to connect with the Young Hollywood set, this is the place to do it.

    AMENITY WE LOVE

The pool–great scene and entertaining blue Astroturf design.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

The too-cool-for-school staff needs to smarten up, and some outdoor furniture for those balconies would be nice–we felt funny dragging our in-room beanbag out there.

    GOOD TO KNOW

The rooms are classified by size (S, M, L, etc.). Avoid the XL rooms–besides the extra square footage, not much is added, and many find them to be quite empty and echoey.
