    VIBE

A quirky take on Old Hollywood glamour served up alongside gorgeous cocktails, smashing pub food, and the delicious prospect of celeb sightings. Across a trailing series of rooms, eccentric design elements like a classic Bogart-esque oak bar, unsettling flocks of fake monarch butterflies pinned to the walls, a stuffed peacock on guard-duty, and a plush little chandeliered nook straight out of a French chateau evoke the magical idiosyncrasies of Tinseltown.

    WHAT WE WOULD WEAR

It’s upscale casual. The décor is so off the beaten path that you could really go wild with funky vintage stylings, but with the celeb-heavy crowd in mind, you might want to flash some contemporary designer labels.

    GO HERE WITH

Friends – for a sceney evening of taking in all the many crazy creatures that populate Tinseltown; a date – for intimate conversation on one of the velvet benches in the back.

    CROWD

The crowd is as eclectic as the décor, ranging from big name etoiles (Johnny Depp hangs out here) to locals who like the burgers and the tunes plus tourists sampling “Hollywood glamour.”

    WHY WE LIKE IT

We love the deliciously posh yet quirky décor, the scene, and the decadent take on pub grub. We were also pleasantly surprised by the engaging and friendly staff–unusual for a spot with this much cachet in LA.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

The later you go, the stricter they get at the door. This is a hotspot for cocktails, and there is no guaranteed entry for non-hotel guests or those without reservations.

    GOOD TO KNOW

If you’re looking for a romantic tete-a-tete, try the plush mezzanine tables on a weeknight. For those keeping track, the lovely pub menu is by Carolynn Spence, formerly of New York's fabled Spotted Pig.
