This cute Malibu outpost of the NYC-based Crumbs Cake Shop empire serves up their signature sumptuous softball-sized cupcakes in more than 50 varieties (when we were there: Hostess, Key Lime, Red Velvet, Coconut, yum). The shop may be petite, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for with a sunny corner location, gregarious staff, and convenient setting at Malibu Lumber Yards, next to the Malibu Country Mart.

WHY WE LIKE IT

No beating around the bush: we love the cupcakes. This is a perfect stop post beach or shopping, and a wrapped box of cupcakes makes a great last minute gift, too (though make sure you get one for yourself as well!).

WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

More seating would be a plus–but the courtyard around the bake shop is a perfect place to savor the treats.

GOOD TO KNOW

Crumbs now offers local delivery in LA and NYC. If you’re doing take out, know that their upgraded cupcake carrier system is fantastic–your beauties definitely won’t get smushed on the way home.
