    VIBE

Elegantly unpretentious. Housed in an old brick carriage house which used to belong to silent film star Harold Lloyd, this gem of a restaurant keeps things laidback with earthy exposed brick walls, a warm stone fireplace, soft leather sofas, and a wide, inviting patio. Chef Suzanne Goin’s menu is short, simple, and carefully constructed–a perfect match with the pared-down yet sophisticated ambiance.

    CROWD

Well-heeled but laid back bunch–mix of foodies, professionals, and couples on romantic dates.

    WHAT WE WOULD WEAR

Just like the menu, something simple but well-tailored.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

Simple and elegant–the vibe, food, and service are all unpretentious yet perfectly done. Lovely spot for a conversation over dinner, be it with an important colleague or an old friend.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

The tables are too close together, especially on the patio.

    GOOD TO KNOW

Lucques is famous for its three-course Sunday Supper, definitely worth checking out. (It’s USD 45 per person, and the set menu is posted online in advance.) A bar menu is available Mon.-Thurs. 9:00pm-10:00pm and Fri.-Sat. 9:30pm-10:30pm. Lucques is the sister restaurant to wine bar AOC.
