    VIBE

Grungy diner famed for its manhole cover-sized pancakes and equally gargantuan sound system. Trendy types are not at all put off by the worn surrounds and blasting stereo, lining up for hours on busy weekend mornings just to snag one of the vinyl seats and indulge in calorific fresh-from-griddle treats like the “Saturday Morning Fever” pancakes spiked with Kahlua and Baileys.

    CROWD

Lots of creative types, from out-of-work actors to seasoned screenwriters. Popular with hipsters and tourists, too.

    WHAT WE WOULD WEAR

Whatever’s close at hand when you roll out of bed–we’d go with a tee, jeans, and flip flops.

Friends to recuperate from a night out; family for brunch

    WHY WE LIKE IT

Those pancakes man…they’re the best (and biggest) we’ve ever sampled. Definitely worth the wait. And let’s not forget about the eggs–amazing scramble/omelette combos (served with a couple pancakes as well!).

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

The out-the-door-and-around-the-block lines on weekend mornings.

    GOOD TO KNOW

If you want some of their dreamy pancakes but can’t bear the wait, three options: 1) go at off-hours; 2) try their takeaway service; or 3) head to The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf that’s across the street and get a tasty beverage to tide you over.
