The eight lush treatment rooms at the Four Seasons Spa are richly styled with luxurious furnishings–no trendy bare bones modernism here. The treatments themselves draw celeb clientele (their exclusive Ila and Kerstin Florian lines and custom treatments are absolutely divine), and fabulous custom touches like tailored chocolates crafted by the Four Seasons pastry chef for each client have helped them build a loyal following. The low lighting concept is prime for relaxation.

WHY WE LIKE IT

The Four Seasons does classic pampering luxury like no other. No gimmicks or attention-grabbing hipsterism are needed to draw us in, simply decadence par excellence.

WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

We wish that use of the lovely pool and fitness center was included in the spa treatment price. Also, lack of a "relaxation room," so common in spas of similar caliber, is unfortunate–guests wait in chairs in a glorified hallway, albeit with snacks and juices. We had a facial, and they tried to up-sell us to additional add-on services. While this is common in high-end spas, we find it to be a turn-off.

GOOD TO KNOW

Sauna and steam were recently renovated in 2010 so they should be stylin’. Reservations are advised well in advance, and as usual there’s a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you’re staying at the Four Seasons, check out their menu of in-room treatments. Also, treatments are available in poolside cabanas–lovely for a luxurious afternoon with a significant other or girlfriends.
