The inviting Asian-inspired space at l.a. vie l’orange is dotted with enough tea lights, dark wood paneling, and feng shui waterfalls to make even the most uptight customer relax into zen mode. Unique treats like the hooded wicker treatment chairs (which create a calming cocoon effect) and freshly baked cookies (available only sometimes) set this nail salon apart from its competitors. However, some complain that the hit-or-miss service is mediocre at best.

The signature “Walk on the Beach” pedicure allows you to relax your feet on a mound of sand, while they soak in a rosemary oil, orange blossom, and orange slice bath- topped off with a cucumber scrub and detoxifying seaweed wrap. If you’re reserving in advance, try booking through their website–they often offer web-only discounts. (You can even book same-day appointments online.) If you’re hosting a party, you can book out the entire spa (and the outdoor courtyard, if needed), and l.a. vie l’orange will organize catering as well. Fewer nail technicians are on staff on Tuesdays so it may be more challenging to get an appointment or successfully walk-in then.
