VIBE
The self-consciously trendy Le Parker Meridien works hard to woo the in-crowd with everything from Damien Hirst installations in the lobby and classic cartoons playing in the elevators to a rooftop pool and a faux-dive burger joint oh-so-ironically named Burger Joint. Nonetheless, the overall vibe is more business than hipster, with the meeting facilities, business-friendly rooms, and spa drawing a buttoned-up, briefcase-toting crowd.

WHY WE LIKE IT
Service is speedy and efficient (we totally dig video check-out), and the amenities are perfect for a post-work or post-touristing day: an hour at the spa and a shake from Burger Joint are just what we need to recharge for a night on the town. Also, the Midtown location is super convenient, especially for sights like Central Park and Fifth Avenue shopping.
AMENITY WE LOVE
The Gravity fitness center and spa is a delight… as is the rooftop pool.
WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE
There are loads of tiny surcharges which add up quickly–expect to pay for everything from local calls and toothbrushes to Internet and access to the fitness center. Also, the service can be brusque–not for those looking to become BFFs with the concierge.
GOOD TO KNOW
The hotel is pet friendly (there’s even a room service menu for “beasts”), though there’s a USD 50/day charge for pets. Kids are welcome, and child-friendly amenities include the pool, cartoons in the elevators, a Wii in the fitness center, and proximity to Central Park. Simultaneous Japanese translation via telephone is available. Parking is USD 52/day. There are nine meeting and event rooms on site.
