    VIBE

This swish 10-story extended-stay hotel offers well-appointed mini-flats for those planning to set up camp in the Big Apple for quite a while. Tenants range from big-name performers from nearby Lincoln Center and film stars shooting on location to jetsetting business types and well-heeled flat-hunting locals. Amenities are rather thin on the ground (this is more of a residence than a hotel, so don’t expect to be coddled), though there’s a superlative concierge available 24/7.

    GO HERE WITH

Family - for the spacious rooms and kid-friendly kitchens; colleagues - for an extended business stay; significant other - for playing house in the city

    WHY WE LIKE IT

If you’re going to be in town for more than just a quick business trip or whirlwind sightseeing tour, this is a great option. You’ll really feel like a local rather than just a visitor with your fully equipped mini-flat. The prime location (just across from Lincoln Center and steps from Central Park) is ideal if you’re setting up a temporary base in the city.

    AMENITY WE LOVE

The fully equipped kitchen. It’s a treat to be able to make a cup of coffee the way we like it first thing in the morning.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

The dearth of amenities. Also, it can be a little pricey if you don’t spring for a long-stay deal.

    GOOD TO KNOW

Though Phillips Club generally caters to long-stay tenants, you can still book rooms by the day or week. There are pull-out couches that offer more comfortable arrangements than cots for surprise guests (with extended stays, these definitely come in handy). 24-hour concierge and business center services are available. There’s a 24-hour parking garage nearby. Housekeeping is available. If you really want to make use of your kitchenette, there’s a Balducci’s grocery store downstairs. Pets are allowed.
