Tucked away near the border of SoHo and the farther reaches of Tribeca, this intimate, low-lit nook of a bar exudes a quiet romanticism fit for the canoodling couples and conversing Uptowners that frequent it. The cavernous interior is divided into two rooms: the first is a narrow stretch of space dominated by a slate-covered bar, while the second is a more spacious area filled with sofas and ottomans, both with exposed brick and seductive candles. We love the sexy mood lighting and ever-flowing wine (selections come from around the world), which keep any conversation progressing in a promising direction.

It borders on the classy side of casual here; a flattering blouse, flowing skirt, flats, and sparkly baubles would work.

WHY WE LIKE IT

We love dropping in at this neighborhood favorite for a glass of one of their international wines. Plus, the low lighting and intimate quarters make this spot a perfect venue to bring (and captivate) a new beau (or belle).

WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

On weekends, the narrow front room can get a bit too crowded for our romantic tête-à-têtes.
