    VIBE

It’s worth the trek uptown for this go-green American restaurant, which, despite its New York City locale, screams Bay Area. Decked out in oh-so-eco-friendly decor (faux woods, white brick, and stainless steel), the space is simple and airy. Waiters in aprons bring out the tasty market-driven seasonal fare (all sustainably or organically sourced), which is served year round from the trendy open kitchen to loyal Columbia University regulars, Morningside Heights parents with kids, and a good mix of the greenies.

    CROWD

Columbia University types, Upper Westsiders with kids, and hipsters-gone-greeners.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

The food is delicious and prepared in a way that showcases the natural flavors of the ingredients. We love their juices and warm beverages (Hot Buttered Cider, anyone?). Also, its outdoor seating is perfect for a lazy lunch in warm weather; we’ve spent hours watching people pass by as we enjoy our eats.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

For a restaurant that has Juice in its name, it has a surprisingly short menu of fresh juices (orange, grapefruit, and carrot). We’d love to see more!

    GOOD TO KNOW

Though good for dinner outings, the best menus to spoil your taste buds are offered at brunch and lunch. The outdoor patio seating (available during warmer months) offers great people-watching as New Yorkers hustle past you on Broadway. Owner Neil Kleinberg also owns Clinton St. Baking Co. & Restaurant on the Lower East Side.
