With neutral taupe banquettes, a sensible modernist layout, sunny floor-to-ceiling windows, and a cuisine that embraces the simple, Perry St. is chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten in relax mode. That said, it’s not that relaxed…it’s already earned a Michelin star, and the flavorful Asian-inflected French-American fare succeeds in drawing a glamorous crowd of conversational couples, lunchers, and West Village locals.

WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

It’s all the way over by West Street, which makes it a bit of a hike from the subway. We were seated late for our reservation, but we hope that is not a common occurrence.

GOOD TO KNOW

Perry St. is definitely a pared-down, less dramatic version of what you’d normally expect from Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
