VIBE
The famously quirky-meets-sexy Standard Hotel brand has exceeded expectations with their first NYC property, a mod glass tower in the Meatpacking District. The racy combination of floor-to-ceiling windows and exposed showers is an exhibitionist’s dream, while the heady top-floor nightlife scene is painfully hip. Some find the retro-minimalist décor too “doctor’s waiting room of the future,” but the cool kids who pack in enthuse over the witty originality of it all.

WHY WE LIKE IT
We dig the combination of trendy scene and considerate comfort. On the one hand, the Standard offers us glam cocktails in the town’s hottest lounges and eats at the stylish Standard Grill, while on the other, they provide us with pampering treats like divine bath amenities to ease our recovery the next day. Perfect!
AMENITY WE LOVE
The incredible views and proximity to nightlife scene and High Line park.
WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE
Guests are not automatically given access to the rooftop lounge. What a bummer to be velvet roped out of the scene in a hotel you’re paying to stay in!
GOOD TO KNOW
If you’re into park-hopping, The Standard is a good place to stay, since it straddles the High Line green belt. If you really want a view, spring for a corner suite with wrap-around windows. Complimentary bicycles and valet parking available. Pets are welcome for a USD 150 fee. Kid-friendly perks include complimentary cribs.
