    VIBE

This cozy, relaxed wine bar was started by a trio of sophisticated, globetrotting siblings, and it shows. The warm, eclectic décor tastefully pulls together influences from far-flung locales like India and Morocco and the wine list is equally worldly. It’s the perfect spot to sink in among the overstuffed cushions with a glass of one of the interesting vintages and give yourself over to a long conversation with a friend or one of the friendly regulars.

    WHAT WE WOULD WEAR

Our favorite jeans, flats, and an indie-cool top.

    GO HERE WITH

Close friends - for a long catch-up session; a date; family; yourself

    CROWD

It’s a laidback mix of neighborhood locals and wine drinkers looking for a low-key drink and some conversation. It’s also a really popular spot with daters.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

Thankfully, the cosmopolitan vibes skip out on “better traveled than thou” pretentions for convivial “make yourself at home” familiarity. It’s a gloriously chilled-out haven in the velvet-roped, DJ-spinning craziness that is the Meatpacking District. We like how they have a great selection of mid-range wines, too. Perfect for a laidback evening of sipping and chatting into the wee hours.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

    Not much.

    GOOD TO KNOW

There’s a 20% service charge for parties of six or more. Ara is also available for hire for parties of up to 70.

    CLOSEST COMPS

    ‘inoteca (New York); Aperitivo (Beijing)
