This sophisticated and sleek salon that, like New York, never sleeps is a recent addition to the Manhattan hair salon landscape. Since arriving from Korea in 2008, it's quickly become a stylish hotspot. While the go-all-day hours might conjure up an image of a noisy, busy cacophony of blow dryers, the Hair Party is actually more laidback than that. The décor in naturalistic wood and stone, along with the Korean love songs spilling from the stereo, provide a serene backdrop to all the hair activity. If you need something to do with your hands while getting coiffed, grab a magazine from one of the tabletops at your standalone hair station or relax with a glass of fruit tea.

WHY WE LIKE IT

The hours and the atmosphere are a winning combination. A salon that fits around your needs and not the other way around is appealing in a city that keeps you on the go like New York. And while the city may be hectic, the salon isn't.

WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

The service leaves something to be desired. Our stylist was a bit rough during the shampoo and wash and, despite the place being dead at 11:00am, seemed distracted with whatever was going on around us (we had the wet hair drips on our clothes to prove it).

GOOD TO KNOW

There's a small USD 5 surcharge for services between 10:00pm and 6:00am, and services after 10:00pm do require an appointment. But for the convenience of being able to get a blow out at midnight or a waxing at 3:00am, it's worth it. Select services are discounted between 6:00am and 12:00pm, starting at USD 40 (though keep in mind that the price mounts with the length of your hair). They recommend that tips be given in cash, though it is not required. Also, make sure to double-check the treatment charge–the women there tend to swipe your credit card without telling you the charged amount.
