    VIBE

Charismatic Vespa-riding owner Michael McCarty is a NYC native and seasoned restaurateur who knows what will keep the seasonal scene happy: strong drinks, a solid menu of American comfort food, and a comfortable, open space that makes for easy mingling. The look is a preppy take on British colonial (striped khaki wallpaper, wicker furniture, lots of mahogany and bamboo, old school ceiling fans, and potted palms), with open spaces, a hopping bar, and even gaming tables providing plenty of opportunities for hobnobbing.

    CROWD

An older but stylish set of Palm Beachers; later in the evening, their good-looking offspring trickle in, too.

    WHAT WE WOULD WEAR

Upscale casual; we’d break out our Lacoste polo shirts, boat shoes, and fun resort wear.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

It’s one of the few casual spots in town that’s not a burger joint. We like to sit outside (if we can grab one of the must-have terrace tables) and eavesdrop on the local scene.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

Service can be sloppy and distracted, and there is some variation in food quality. Also, it’s a little annoying that the terrace is next to the parking lot (one of the only places we know where people fight for parking lot view tables!).

    GOOD TO KNOW

Private club room “Rory’s” (which is available for private functions) turns the restaurant’s look on its head with pop princess décor (think lots of vinyl, bubble gum pink, and neon lights). If you want to sit outside, reserve in advance–they put heaters out on cool evenings. Takeout is available.
