HIGHLIGHTSPosh shops; lush, flower-covered vias
Palm Beach’s answer to Rodeo Drive. It got its start in the 1920s when the exclusive Everglades Club held weekly fashion shows here (they even helped launch designers like Valentino and Elizabeth Arden in the process), and the posh shops on this gilded stretch of road still cater to an upper crust clientele. International luxury brands (Cartier, Gucci, Ferragamo) dominate, but a handful of native Palm Beach boutiques, galleries, and restaurants like Kassatly’s Inc., Cashmere Beach, and Ta-boo Restaurant and Bar add some local color. The elegant Med-inflected architecture, stately palms, and flower-drenched vias leading off of it are very Floridian, but the crowds are a cosmopolitan mix of fashionistas and power players.
GO HERE WITH
Serious shoppers; a few friends; a date - for a stroll and a drink (or even dinner)
WHY WE LIKE IT
It’s the “downtown” of Palm Beach–besides being shopping central, this is also where most of the action’s at.
WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE
It’s something of a desert in the summer, when many of the shops have reduced hours (or even close).
GOOD TO KNOW
Maintaining a sense of history, many of the boutiques here still host trunk shows and fashion shows throughout The Season. If you’re interested in more history, local legend James Ponce (he was actually proclaimed Palm Beach’s “Two-Legged Historical Landmark” by the Palm Beach Town Council in 1996) offers weekly walking tours of the Worth Avenue area. (Offered on Wednesdays during peak season and on Saturdays during the off-season; see Worth Avenue website for complete schedule.)
