    VIBE

One of the biggest draws to the Four Seasons Resort in Palm Beach is its spa, a gorgeously serene retreat that mirrors the natural glamour of its adjacent hotel. Distinguished Canadian designer Brian Gluckstein envisioned an ocean-oriented interior and brought it to life in the form of quiet plush lounges, swirling whirlpools with small cascading waterfalls, coral-designed light fixtures, shell and bamboo motifs, and the soft sea green tones that prevail throughout. In any of the 11 treatment rooms (including the Sea Grass Room, which is designed for total privacy), guests enjoy signature treatments that incorporate local ingredients like marine oils and sea salts to reflect the marine-themed setting. At first a standalone operation, superior German skincare and beauty line BABOR partnered with the Four Seasons, bringing its services together with therapies by the acclaimed Kate Somerville to shape a world-class sanctuary of wellness and indulgence.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

The treatments that cater specifically to local attractions–such as the Palm Beach Sun Recovery Wrap (for those abusive summer days) and Worth Avenue Shopping Splurge (a massage that focuses on tired, post-browse legs and feet)–give this spa’s menu an extra edge.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

The prices, especially for treatments by Kate Somerville, are a little more splurge-worthy than we’d like. Also, the spa is downstairs and thus lacks natural light, which just feels a bit “off” in Palm Beach.

    GOOD TO KNOW

Women are not the only ones privileged at this spa–the Willow Room is a private suite for men outfitted with a real barber’s chair (traditional hot towel shaves are offered as well as other indulgences) and a plasma TV. For those looking for even more intimacy, The Sea Grass Room grants total privacy and is an ideal option for VIP relaxation time with that special someone (complete with two treatment beds and steam facilities, the room often acts as a private couple's suite). The spa also has a hair salon and mani/pedi area on site, in addition to its whirlpool lounge and treatment rooms.
