    VIBE

Its glitzy Worth Avenue address says it all: the emphasis at Ta-boo is really on appearances–who is coming to dinner trumps what’s on the menu. The legendary restaurant has played host to a lengthy list of notables that include John F. Kennedy, Frank Sinatra, Gloria Swanson, and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, among others, and Palm Beach’s sociable elite make certain to add their names to the mix. Thus, despite its somewhat cheesy British colonial décor and its middling eats, the town’s wisest and wealthiest continue to congregate here nightly.

    WHAT WE WOULD WEAR

The scene is dressy in the evening, so go for a cocktail dress, killer heels, big sparkling jewels, and a polished up-do.

    CROWD

Locals of all ages come to dine here, though the scene is largely dominated by old Palm Beach. An over-40 set of power figures and lovers frequent on Thursdays and Fridays.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

This Worth Avenue legend is an absolute must if you’re visiting Palm Beach for the first time. The people watching is outstanding, as you’ll never know who will next be walking through the door. Though the place packs in an older crowd, this is a fun and easy spot to grab a drink (the Bloody Marys are notable) and scope out the glitzy scene, especially if you are seeking refreshment pre- or post-dinner.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

The food is a bit bland–we come for the great location and even better people watching.

    GOOD TO KNOW

Couples should call ahead to score the prime table at the front of the restaurant by the window. Half-price drinks can be had during Ta-boo’s Premium Happy Hour, which runs from 4:00pm to 6:30pm Monday-Thursday and 9:30pm 'til close on Fridays and Saturdays (a special Happy Hour menu is also available).
