VIBE
Practically since the day it was first opened by a Lyonnais butcher in 1912, this classic bistro has held a privileged place on the Paris society scene. Every mayor of Paris has dined here since its founding and, though the surrounds are now decidedly vintage (think solid wooden furniture, ultra-starched linens, and profuse potted plants) and the standoffish service a bit dated, the clientele remains as rarefied as ever. Of course, it probably helps that the traditional menu has been buffed up by none other than Alain Ducasse (with a newly minted Michelin star for the restaurant to prove it).
CROWD
An odd mix of Parisian ultra-elites and tourists.
WHAT WE WOULD WEAR
Smart casual: think effortless Parisian chic. We’d wear a sharp blouse, tailored trousers, and flats.

WHY WE LIKE IT
It’s a great spot for an upscale lunch. (We prefer to skip out on the snooty scene that collects here at dinnertime.)
WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE
The quarters are quite cramped, and we could do without the pretentious service.
GOOD TO KNOW
When booking, ask for a window seat, and avoid the touristy back room at all costs. The restaurant is usually closed during the month of August.
