Tuileries

VIBE
In a sumptuous Versailles-style “grand siècle” salon recently polished up by Philippe Starck, adventurous chef Yannick Alléno serves up lavish, triple Michelin-starred dinners on plates he custom designed for the cuisine. The dining room gleams with crystal, mirrors, bronze, and marble, but guests are more likely to be staring at the gorgeous views of the Tuileries, the antique frescos, the open wine cellars (which hold bottles like Château Cos D’Estournel 1928 Saint Estèphe), or the decadent truffle-and-caviar-accented cuisine.
CROWD
A moneyed mix of power couples, expense accounters, well-coiffed hotel guests, and daters out for a très special occasion.
WHAT WE WOULD WEAR
The dress code is elegant casual for breakfast and lunch, and formal for dinner. We’d wear a simple yet refined look by day (perhaps classic French black with flashy flats or a scarf to liven things up) and a downright fancy-schmancy one after dark. (This is a good spot to sport the poshest frock and heels in your suitcase.) Jackets are required for les hommes in the evening.

WHY WE LIKE IT
The reasonable lunchtime prix fixe is one of the best deals in town–although, frankly, we like to splurge on the theatrically presented dinners. We also give major kudos for the impressively nimble, helpful service.
WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE
It’s closed on weekends for lunch and dinner.
GOOD TO KNOW
If you’re really looking to splash the cash, spring for the best table in the house-the chef’s table in the kitchen. Restaurant Le Meurice is usually closed during the month of August.
