    VIBE

Even though their operation is completely legit, The Gibson still has a secretive speakeasy vibe going on. Once you actually find the black, unmarked front door, you’re greeted by a host who locates a table before you’re allowed inside. There’s no standing in this bar — every party has a table, which adds to the quiet, exclusive feel. Hipper-than-thou servers will come around to take your order or clarify the menu, as the mixologists have a custom set of cocktails lined up. The drinks are pricey but worlds beyond run-of-the-mill rum and cokes − once you taste them, we think you'll agree that they’re worth the hefty bill.

    WHAT WE WOULD WEAR

Something sophisticated and sexy — pumps, a skirt, and a breezy top.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

The drinks are unique, delicious, and strong. We love coming here with a date when we want to enjoy a high-end cocktail and not have to shout across the table.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

We love the speakeasy vibe, but a little more light to read the menu would be nice.

    GOOD TO KNOW

If you don’t have a reservation for a table, the patio and bar may be easier to get. The outdoor patio tends to be more of a smoker’s haven, so beware if you are adverse to smoke. This is a sister property to the popular Marvin over on 14th Street.
