Georgetown is not just one of the oldest DC neighborhoods, it’s also one of the most fashionable, and has been since the get-go. (Dignitaries from Thomas Jefferson to JFK to Madeleine Albright have taken up residence here.) Its cobbled streets lined with elegant brick and stone row houses are some of the most fetching in the city, and the verdant, historic campus of Georgetown University is equally picturesque. Thoroughfares Wisconsin Avenue and M Street hold most of the shopping, a collection of upscale boutiques. Some of the best include designer emporiums like Intermix, CUSP, and Barneys New York CO-OP; hip labels like kate spade, rag & bone, and Michael Kors; beauty havens like Sephora, L’Occitaine, and Kiehl’s; and sporty stores like lululemon and Patagonia. For baby’s fashions, we love The Magic Wardrobe.

WHY WE LIKE IT
There’s a great mix of shops, from funky student faves to exclusive boutiques. Plus, food stops like Dean & Deluca and PAUL keep us fueled up while on a serious spree. When we’re in need of a sweet treat, we love participating in the great Georgetown Cupcake vs. baked & wired debate. (They’re only a few blocks apart, so a side-by-side cupcake comparison may be in order!)
GOOD TO KNOW
Street parking is tough in this area–either try your luck on the sidestreets or bite the bullet and pay for a garage spot. Or, if you’re looking to save some dough, park in Rosslyn, Virginia, and then walk across the Key Bridge into Georgetown.
