    VIBE

DC’s crisply bobbed political gals–everyone from diplomats to First Ladies to (this is K Street after all) lobbyists–make straight for Andre Chreky’s “salon spa” when their 'dos need a bit of TLC. Given the mature crowd of power-suited professionals, the cuts are conservative, the space is blandly neutral, and there are no perks like spa snacks or relaxation lounges, though if you’re after a bit more pampering, you can indulge in a treatment from the small menu of spa services. For the ultimate treatment, book a cut with Andre himself.

    WHY WE LIKE IT

The Signature Facial (which is customized for your skin) is worth trying, and we enjoy hanging out among the K Street power set–last time we were in a woman held court with two note-taking assistants as her hair was cut.

    WHAT WE WOULD CHANGE

It’s not a very relaxing “spa” environment. The space is pretty noisy (even the treatment room walls are thin), and the décor is a bit bland and dated (the treatment rooms could use a serious spruce–the paint was peeling in our facial room). Also, manicures are pricey for what they are (you could do better at a no-frills neighborhood joint), and the creaky staircase that takes you up to the treatment rooms is a little creepy.

    GOOD TO KNOW

Wedding services and men’s treatments are available. Parking in this area is tricky on weekdays; there’s limited two-hour metered parking on K Street (Monday-Friday 9:30am-4:00pm) and a few nearby garages (try MCM on Eye Street between 16th and 17th Streets). On weekends, street parking is free and abundant. 24-hour advance notice required for cancellation or you will be charged in full for your appointment.
